About the Arlington Life Shelter
Mission
The Arlington Life Shelter provides short-term shelter and support services that help our neighbors who are homeless integrate into society and become contributors to a thriving community.
Who Do We Serve?
Single and multi-parent families, and single men and women
What Do We Provide?
Basic/Emergency Services
- Inclement weather services are available during periods of extreme weather.
- 72 hour services are available for persons not interested in employment.
- 14 day services and housing placement are provided for persons unable to work due to disability or age.
- Background checks are required.
- No assault convictions in the last 5 years
- No convictions of sexual crimes or crimes against children EVER.
- Must have photo ID.
- There is no fee for services.
Employment Program
The 9-to-12 week structured rehabilitative program has an 75% success rate in returning homeless individuals and their families to self-sufficiency.

Program Components
Children's Services
- Educational, life skills and recreational activities are provided for infants, children and teens.
- Assistance with child care including after school care
Educational Services
- Adults complete 36 hours of educational classes.
- Children receive 90 hours of tutoring and computer instruction.
- Residents challenged by addiction complete 27 hours of education and support group meetings.
Job Readiness and Coaching
- Individualized education and coaching services assist residents in securing and maintaining employment.
Health Services
- Medical, dental and immunization clinics are provided on a regular basis.
Social Work Services

Personalized direction and support are provided for residents in overcoming barriers to self-sufficiency.
Transitional Housing
- Off-site housing and Case Management services are provided for a limited number of families and single persons.
