Programs & Services - Entrance Requirements
Emergency Shelter
Emergency shelter services are provided for the homeless for up to a 72-hour period and during periods of extreme cold or heat. Background checks are required and persons with felony convictions of a crime against another person in the past five years and/or a conviction of a crime against a child ever will be denied entry to ensure shelter safety. There is no fee for services.
Structured Rehabilitative Program The nine-week structured rehabilitative program has an 85% success rate in returning homeless individuals and their families to self-sufficiency.
Program requirements:
- Commitment - Program participants must commit to the hard work and possible life changes required by the program as they transition to self-sufficiency.
- Drug Testing - Persons who initially test positive may enter the program by agreeing to participate in drug treatment.
- Background Checks - Persons with felony convictions of a crime against another person in the past 5 years and/or a conviction of a crime against a child ever will be denied entry to ensure shelter safety.
- Mental Health - Disorders must be controllable with medication and counseling.
- Physical Status - Persons must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- The Arlington Life Shelter charges no fees for services.
